计划上法学院,学什么本科专业?

The Law School Admission Council categorizes test-takers into 162 majors. Seeing many of those as sub-disciplines of major fields, Nieswiadomy groups them into 29 categories. Of those 29, he found that the top five majors and their average test scores were:
    1. Physics/math, 160.0
    2. Economics, 157.4
    3. Philosophy/theology, 157.4
    4. International relations, 156.5
    5. Engineering, 156.2
The five lowest-scoring majors were:
    25. Education, 149.4
    26. Business administration, 149.1
    27. Health professions, 148.4
    28. Prelaw, 148.3
    29. Criminal justice, 146.0

Chinese Boy? LSAT >= 175

US's legal system is very close to England's, just like US IBs. Most prestige law firms are rooted from England; where there is a magic circle firms and silver circle firms. Both circles are among the most prestige firms. Silver circle consists of 6 firms, while Magic circle consists of 5 top-most firms. My Son declined an offer from one of the Magic circle.

Litigation practice is very close to what you see on TV: Suing or defending on behalf of your clients, and arguing in the courts.

A part of Transaction practice is very close to a banker: Review transactions such as M&A, hedger, PE, Venture, Issuance of stock, bonds, derivatives, etc.
As my son is on the transaction track, he takes about 1.5 year of coursework in law school and the other 1.5 in Business school. In Spring break, he brought home his homework on Options and looked for my help. Wow, I had difficulties in get it done in the option pricing homework. I mean, it drills in depth, not just some case-studying stuff. He says his JD is an MBA plus one year law education.
Can you choose a track? Absolutely! After all, no matter which color you prefer, all cars eventually got sold out, with any color. Big Law has very fine granularity in positions, similar to MD specialist versus General Practice that we non-MDs are more familiar with. A cardiologist surgeon might feel insulted if you line him up with your PCP.

V10 = Top 10 Big Law firms ranked by Vault
EIP = Early Interview Program where firms pick up talents at the beginning of 2nd year JD
candidates.

Not sure about the employment perspective with foreign status. However, many BigLaw is expending into China right now. You may utilize your one year practice t get into BigLaw and then transfer to China offices.

Here is the breakdown of 2014 Summer Associates compositions of a Top 10 “Big Law” Firm
Total class size is 32 JD candidates this year, from 13 schools. Notice that 77% are from Top 14 law Schools, which is quite typical.
YHS

CCN
35%
T14
77%
Others
23%

Interestingly, such summer associates will receive pro-rata freshman salary, $160,000 per annum in general. Probably that is why they are not called interns?

Most of the associates are going to practice transaction law in this firm, contrasting to mainstream litigation practice. All lawyers are not litigators.

Example:

A at 175 means there are 750 applicants having same or better LSAT scores.
B at 177 means there are 250 applicants having same or better LSAT scores.

Top 14 Schools enroll about 4,500 students each year., with YHS 1000 and CCN 1000. Therefore, you need 175 to get into one of the best schools.
